Kitchen Carts Versus Kitchen Islands

Are you ready to make a fantastic addition to your kitchen? You owe it to yourself and your overworked kitchen to bring in a kitchen island! These units are great because they provide you with essential counter space. Do you find yourself trying to balance different ingredients on top of the refrigerator and along the rim of the sink? The kitchen today is so full of appliances (microwave, toaster, espresso machine), that the counter space disappears completely. No wonder microwave meals are so popular; people do not have the space to prepare a home-cooked dish!

You might see an advertisement promoting kitchen carts islands but that is misleading. In reality, there are kitchen islands and there are kitchen carts.  The option you decide to go with depends on your needs and the space that you have available in your kitchen.

A kitchen island is the better-known unit because it is a permanent fixture in a home. Fifty perfect of the homes built today integrate a permanent island into their kitchen design because they are seen as extremely attractive and helpful kitchen features. If you have an L or G shaped kitchen that is at least 100 square feet, then a permanent kitchen island should be able to fit in your space easily. Most islands are custom-made so that you can integrate extra kitchen features. A second kitchen sink or an extra cook-top are very popular kitchen island additions. The storage space on the bottom of the island is also extremely helpful!

A mobile kitchen island, also known as a kitchen cart, is great for those who do not have room for a permanent island in their home. These carts are also great for additional counter space but the added advantage of a cart is that you can move it to other rooms should you need to! If you plan to have a party, all you need to do it throw a tablecloth over it and place appetizers or desserts on the surface. It is extremely convenient! Just pull it out when you need to use it, engage the wheel locks to make sure the cart does not move anywhere, and then put it away when you are finished.

You will love having new kitchen furniture in your home; they are the perfect kitchen additions.
